Kidnappers Ask For N40m For ENTACO

The gang who effected the kidnap of an Uyo based business man, Mr. Nyong, popularly known as ENTACO has demanded a N40m ransom before they will set him free. A reliable family source told Weekly Insight that the kidnappers had earlier asked for N100m, but on further negotiation scaled down the amount to N45m and then to N40m. Desperate efforts are on by family members and friends to secure the release of the business magnate
A distraught family member who spoke to Weekly Insight on condition of anonymity described the kidnap as “bestial and a crude way of making money”. He said the businessman was an easy-going, conscientious Christian who would never hurt a fly. He called on security agencies to be more pro-active in the fight against this emerging scourge in the state.
Mr. Nyong was Sunday whisked off by daring gunmen at the junction of Effiong Eno Street and Effiat Street on his way to Sunday service at the Christian Assembly church, located on Effiat Street Uyo. Reports have it that a four man gang operating in a Kia Car, armed with sophisticated weapons forced the businessman into their vehicle and sped off abandoning the SUV Car he was driving to church.
Weekly Insight could not confirm from police authorities on the development in the kidnap case, but a police officer hinted that top level investigation is going on. On the ransom demand the officer, who preferred not to be mentioned said the police is against any form of ransom and have never taken part in the offering of any ransom. He assured that the case would be cracked in time, just as similar cases have been successfully investigated in the past.
