The management of Julius
Berger last week donated 10,000 note books to the ministry
of Education.The donation was made during a courtesy call on
the ministry.
Speaking during the call, the Area Manager, Mr. Maedler,
thanked the state government for the opportunity given them
to showcase their quality work. He promised to relocate the
company's area office to Uyo, the state capital, in view of
the prevailing peace in the state.
Mr. Maedler further stated that he was impressed by the
government's interest in educating the young ones who are
the leaders of tomorrow, stating that it was one of the
greatest achievements of the present government. He also
stressed that Julius Berger was proud to be identified with
the state, bearing in mind the importance of education.
Responding, the Commissioner for Education, Dr. Nse-Abasi
Akpan, on behalf of the government and Ministry of
Education, thanked the management of Julius Berger for doing
exactly what was expected of them.
He also thanked them for planning to move their area office
to Akwa Ibom State, stating that rather than stay for 5
years they will stay longer, in view of the safe environment
the state offers.
The Hon. Commissioner appreciated the fact that for just a
year plus, the company has done this much for the state. He
further noted that the books donated to the ministry are to
encourage the free and compulsory education policy in the
state, and it came on time and is only an icing of the cake.
He thanked them for their kind gestures.
Also responding, the Permanent Secretary to the Ministry,
Mrs. Grace Ebebi, expressed her profound appreciation to
Julius Berger for the donation, stating that they would go a
long way in promoting the private/public partnership between
the state and the company to contribute and assist the
government, as government cannot not do it all done. She
thanked them mostly for the prompt response to their call,
and wished them well in the state.
Accompanied by the Commercial Manager, Mr peter Roomling,
the Admin Manager, Mr Samuel Hart, and the company's PRO,
Mrs Ndifreke Ukodia.
